By 2030, China will begin to produce solar energy at an near-earth orbit

It will take up to hundreds of launches of the superheavy launch vehicle «Changzhen-9» to build at an altitude of almost 36 thousand kilometers above the ground. Solar station with an area of about 1 square kilometer, said the main designer of the Lun Likhao system in Hong Kong. The resulting energy will be transmitted to the Earth using microwaves or lasers.

The project will begin, according to the moon, with the test of the prototype in 2022, the electricity generation in orbit in the amount of several megawatts is scheduled for approximately 2030. Full productivity station will reach when the energy gigavath will begin, it will happen about 2050.

For the first time, the PRC introduced the generation of solar energy in orbit to the list of priority tasks for astronautics in 2008. In 2019, the Chinese Academy of Space Technologies began building an experienced base for conducting wireless energy transmission.

Judging by the presentation conducted by the moon, the design of the designated Rocket «Changzhhen-9» will undergo radical changes. One of the slides shows the former design — the main stage is 10 meters high with five-meter lateral starting engines. It will replace a group of 16 new single-aluminum engine YF-135. Load capacity will grow from 140 tons to 150 tons for near-earth orbits and from 50 tons to 53 tons for transluces. For launches, a two-step version will be used for the near-earth orbit, and three steps will be needed for flights to the moon and further.

Also, the chief designer illuminated a different lifting rocket in the presentation — «Changzhen-5dy». This three-stage carrier will help Taikonauts to get to the Moon no later than 2030.
