Psychologists: For happiness, it is necessary from 2 to 5 hours of free time per day

The ability to relax from work and other concerns and finally, by finally, that brings pleasure, it undoubtedly increases the joy of life, but too much free time can have an opposite effect. American psychologists have discovered that there is a certain threshold value, after which there is a decrease in the subjective feeling of well-being due to lack of productivity and goals.

Researchers from the University of Pennsylvania analyzed the data of 21,736 Americans who participated in the survey in 2012-2013. They had to describe everything in detail everything that was done during the day, pointing the time and duration of all classes, as well as assess the level of satisfaction,

In order to better understand this phenomenon, the researchers spent several experiments. In one, they asked participants to submit that during the next six months they will have a given amount of free time: someone got 15 minutes a day, someone 3.5 hours, someone 7 hours. Representatives of the average group were satisfied. The first group felt stress because of the potential impossibility to deal with their affairs, and the third felt less productive than those who were in the second.

In the second experiment, psychologists appealed to the role of productivity. They were asked to imagine that they have either 3.5 hours per day, or 7, but at the same time they spend it either on something useful (walks, hobbies, sports) or useless (watching telecast or scrolling tapes in social networks) . Those who had more free time reported a sense of less satisfaction, engaged in unproductive affairs. However, those who engaged in useful activities felt as well as those who had two times less free time.
