Zeroavia began testing two hydrogen aircraft by 19

The transition of long-distance aviation on pure fuel seems to be particularly difficult due to the huge energy density of kerosene. Batteries with their 260 W * h / kg are very far from reactive fuel from 12,000 W * h / kg, even if we take into account the smaller efficiency of internal combustion engines. Hydrogen can provide 33,600 W * h / kg of useful energy,

Zeroavia promotes the idea of hydrogen aviation for several years. A year ago the company

One plane will go to Britain, the second will remain in the United States to serve as a demonstration model — Zeroavia plans to go with them to the market by 2024. The Hyflyer II project is held with the support of the Government of the UK.

But that’s not all. The next investment in the amount of $ 13 million will allow the company to start developing a hydrogen aircraft by 50 seats. And by 2040, Zeroavia plans to make a hydrogen aircraft for 200 seats with a radius of action over 5,500 km.

The Slovenian aircraft manufacturer Pipistrel intends to market until the end of the decade airplane on hydrogen, designed for 20 passengers. The aircraft will be built on the basis of the existing Pipistrel Miniliner prototype, which is already undergoing first tests. Purpistrel goal is to enter the regional air transportation market at a distance of up to 1000 kilometers.
